I’m Not Political

When people claim to not be political it can be quite revealing.

They might not be aware of their own political alignment or realise that their core beliefs can be considered political.

They might simply be privileged enough to not be affected by oppressive laws or societal prejudices. That said, most people are oppressed in some way whether they know it or not.

Some people who claim not to be political may do so because they disagree with the language being used. They don’t want to be pigeon holed.

Some people just feel like their personal beliefs and sense of self, don’t quite align with certain political ideologies. The language doesn’t exist, the party that represents them doesn’t exist, so they’re politically homeless.

People are complicated and nuanced.

Dark_independent states clearly that he’s not Republican or Democrat, yet one look at his instagram and I think it’s safe to say he’s very Left wing.

He might disagree. But there are plenty of people out there like him, proof that the Left exists separately from the Democrats who supposedly represent them.

Pretty much everything can be considered political, whether you acknowledge it or not. Political alignments and ideologies are real and impact society for good or ill and if you don’t like the language, you don’t have to use it. But just because you disagree with the definition or don’t like the word ‘fascist’ doesn’t mean that you’re aren’t one or that you agree with some fascist ideology but can’t come to terms with it.

There’s an awful lot of propaganda, spin and linguistic trickery involved in convincing people that words like ‘socialism’ and ‘communism’ are bad, but words like ‘fascist’ or ‘Nazi’ are being over used and offensive when correctly applied to individuals or Governmental policy.

It’s tiresome, incredibly obvious and most frustratingly of all, seems to work.

This is part of a linguistic war and subversion of reality in terms of changing definitions and perceptions about certain ideologies and ways of living.

Please don’t fall for it.
